4 DIY Thanksgiving Crafts

4 DIY Thanksgiving Crafts

Over the last 5 days Andrea has been whipping up some amazing DIY Thanksgiving crafts for some local news stations and boy has it been fun to watch! My favorite part of this DIY Thanksgiving craft-a-palooza is how she used The Paint Chip Pals to pick great color stories for each of her centerpieces! The Wine Country Centerpiece My crafty lady used empty wine bottles, corks, burlap and  OrAngie, Yallow and Gaareen for this wine country themed Thanksgiving table scape. She even threw in a sweet crafty tip on how to turn your wine bottles into votive candle holders with a jar lid! The Modern Succulent Centerpiece Succulents are are great addition to modern centerpieces. Keep it simple by using colors from Gaareen and OrAngie! Plus succulents give you a plethora of options for future holidays! And here’s one for the magazines ;) The Squash Mason Jar Centerpiece Squash and skinny orange tapers are a great alternative for your thanksgiving lighting needs. Add a simple floral arrangement with a mason jar wrapped in twine and filled with orange daisies. The Simple Glittery Centerpiece Instead of spending a fortune on flowers we recommend adding a touch of glitter and the vibrant color combo of OrAngie and Gaareen. It’s simple, sweet and best of all cheap! I’m kind of partial to the modern succulent centerpiece!  Which is your favorite? Glitter Helmets

Glitter Helmets

6 months ago I signed Andrea and I up for a 25 mile bike ride called Bike The Bay. We’ve done this fun ride once before about 3 years ago, a time when we rode our bikes nearly every day… So this year we  prepared (procrastinated) by doing a little binge training the week before and a little crafting the night before. I suppose we figured that nothing powers a 25 mile bike ride better than glittered helmets! I started my helmet bu lightly sanding the areas which I wanted glittered and then used Mod Podge to adhere my glitter. I used super fine Martha Stewart Brand Glitter. Andrea used a Martha Stewart fine purple glitter and a chunky gold glitter which really made it BLING. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little jealous of how much attention Andrea got with her glitter helmet. Not only were people screaming from the sidewalks “OMG I love your helmet!” but she also had some fellow riders huffing and puffing to catch up to her just to tell her how much they ADORED her helmet. Of course she was gracious enough to point out how cool my helmet was too, but apparently these strangers have no love for a man who glittered his helmet! Sheesh! Whatever, we got through the bike ride with ease which I’m sure can be attributed to our awesome glittered helmets! Make Something....
Craft Wars Altar or Falter Trophy Wife

Craft Wars Altar or Falter Trophy Wife

It’s official, I can now in the most punny possible way call Andrea my “trophy wife”. Now to avoid being called a misogynistic pig I’d like to clarify that this title is so apropos because her episode of Craft Wars was wedding themed (Altar or Falter) and she also happened to craft up this trophy to commemorate her win. Am I being insecure or did I really have to explain that? Would you believe this is only scrap wood, some pvc pipe, and a hot glue gun covered in tons of glitter? To create it Andrea used a used a hole saw that fit her 1 inch PVC, some wood glue and a wooden peg to hold the hot glue gun up straight. Then she took the advice from  Stephen at Glitterville and used white glue (Mod Podge) to adhere her gold glitter. And because a boat load of glitter wasn’t enough bling she added rhinestones with hot glue! Yes Tori, she made sure to take off the strings that the judges hate so much. Phew, nap time. She even made a sweet glitter scissor trophy for her assistant in crafty crime Lisa! Now buckle up because our friends Margot and Andrew Potter are appearing on tonight’s episode of Craft Wars at a new time 8 Eastern 7 Central. That’s earlier than normal so take note and check your local listings.
