The Crafter’s Book of Clever Ideas: Awesome Craft Techniques for Handmade Craft Projects

The Crafter’s Book of Clever Ideas: Awesome Craft Techniques for Handmade Craft Projects

As many of you know, Cliff and I have had a rough go at the last 12 months, with the most notable low being diagnosed with a rare breast cancer at the age of 32 and almost dying from severe infection soon after. Luckily, sprinkled among our darkest days were some epic wins, such as the publishing of our very first book called The Crafter’s Book of Clever Ideas: Awesome Craft Techniques for Handmade Craft Projects. It’s safe to say that both breast cancer and the book have made us stronger, exceptionally grateful and even more hopeful for our future than ever before. We undoubtedly wouldn’t be as optimistic had it not been for the love and support from our friends, family and you! The happiest news is that we’re back from our blog sabbatical! Yup, we’re finally putting our glittery boots back on and kicking this crafty shindig into high gear! And what a better way to celebrate our creative resurrection than with our favorite creative bloggers and a massive book giveaway! About The Book We specifically wrote and designed The Crafter’s Book of Clever Ideas for hobbyists, crafty pros, families and DIYers alike. Among the 50 projects, you’ll find our He Crafted/She Crafted panache as well as a plethora of unique techniques, versatile projects, fun materials and of course glitter! The words we love to describe our style in this book are – kitschy, geeky and fun. Some might say it’s a craft battle royal where only one glittery victor can win. I like to think of it as a cheeky craft-off between two very loving people….. but...
Plaid Crafts Glittered Trophies with Lisa Fulmer and Cliff

Plaid Crafts Glittered Trophies with Lisa Fulmer and Cliff

One of my favorite parts about being in the craft industry is when a world class crafting company such as Plaid Crafts asks me and my two favorite crafters (Lisa Fulmer and Cliff) to demonstrate a fun project using their products! As you can tell from the photo we had a fantastic time filming our glittered trophy craft segment in the Plaid crafts booth at the CHA Winter show!  Now watch this video to see how we turned some plastic cups into some blingy trophies and how Cliff apparently wanted to craft and cuddle at the same time! Also click this link for some more amazing Plaid demonstrations by our fellow designer friends!   Craft...
Polymer Clay Valentine’s Day Hearts

Polymer Clay Valentine’s Day Hearts

This year Cliff and I have decided that we are adding polymer clay to our list of creative loves and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our new crafty passion than with  polymer clay Valentine’s day hearts. Cute, no? These wild style polymer clay hearts are great for beginners and polymer clay enthusiasts alike. We simply rolled out the clay and hand cut different shaped hearts. Then we used tiny balls for the marbled effect and small strips for the zebra effect. As you can see the variations are endless and highly addictive. Our only advice is to remember to add a string hole with a bbq skewer before you bake! Craft On....
4 DIY Thanksgiving Crafts

4 DIY Thanksgiving Crafts

Over the last 5 days Andrea has been whipping up some amazing DIY Thanksgiving crafts for some local news stations and boy has it been fun to watch! My favorite part of this DIY Thanksgiving craft-a-palooza is how she used The Paint Chip Pals to pick great color stories for each of her centerpieces! The Wine Country Centerpiece My crafty lady used empty wine bottles, corks, burlap and  OrAngie, Yallow and Gaareen for this wine country themed Thanksgiving table scape. She even threw in a sweet crafty tip on how to turn your wine bottles into votive candle holders with a jar lid! The Modern Succulent Centerpiece Succulents are are great addition to modern centerpieces. Keep it simple by using colors from Gaareen and OrAngie! Plus succulents give you a plethora of options for future holidays! And here’s one for the magazines ;) The Squash Mason Jar Centerpiece Squash and skinny orange tapers are a great alternative for your thanksgiving lighting needs. Add a simple floral arrangement with a mason jar wrapped in twine and filled with orange daisies. The Simple Glittery Centerpiece Instead of spending a fortune on flowers we recommend adding a touch of glitter and the vibrant color combo of OrAngie and Gaareen. It’s simple, sweet and best of all cheap! I’m kind of partial to the modern succulent centerpiece!  Which is your favorite? Get to know the Paint Chip Pals

Get to know the Paint Chip Pals

Meet The Paint Chip Pals Many of you know we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get the Paint Chip Pals Kickstarter campaign launched. As of this moment we have everything turned into Kickstarter and we’re just waiting (on pins and needles) for their thumbs up before we release it into the wild. I figured since we have some time (and tons of anxiety) I would let you all get to know the Paint Chip Pals a little better! Now just imagine how much happiness hugging a Paint Chip Pal Plush doll would bring you! It looks a lot like this :) For those newer to crowd funding I explain it as an exciting way to support independent designers, creatives and inventors while getting something neat in return! In our case we want to make a bunch of Paint Chip Pal plush dolls but we don’t have the money to fill a large minimum quantity order. By using Kickstarter we can raise the money needed to manufacture the Paint Chip Pals and send them to the people who backed the Kickstarter project! The fail safe is that nobody will be charged a cent if for some freakish reason we don’t reach our funding goal. If we do meet our funding goal (yippee) then you will be charged at the pledge level you chose and then  we send you all of the great things that you pledged for. On top of all that, our backers will also get to follow our journey and help shape where we go in the future! Make sure you are following the Paint Chip Pals on Facebook and Twitter for the...
