Super Secret Spy Box Birthday Craft

Super Secret Spy Box Birthday Craft

I realize that painting a Staples box black and stenciling on some letters really doesn’t qualify as a craft inspired by last weeks Craft Wars toy box/pet mansion themes – and normally I don’t make excuses but I have kinda been up for 5 nights straight stressing about my appearance on Craft Wars tomorrow at 10 Eastern 9 Central 7 Pacific. Here’s a preview of said appearance. When I say stressing I actually mean panicking and obsessively glittering random objects. It’s actually kind of a miracle that I was able to sit still long enough to paint a box black and refrain from dousing it in glitter. So, technically I’ve overcome a lot with this little box. Go me! This Nikon CoolPix camera is a prize Cliff and I won from our Giant Paint Chip Valentine on Instructables. Since we have our own nice camera we decided to re-gift the CoolPix camera to our gadget obsessed 9 year old nephew. I’m sure this is the last year I get to do cutesy gift packages for him, so for kicks I threw in a funny disguise and little magnifying glass because you can’t be a super secret spy without those things….. Right?  From here on out I’ll be bedazzling iTunes cards for his birthday. After all, I’ve still gotta live up to my title as crazy crafty aunty Andrea :) Check out these much better crafts from my fellow Craft Wars Vets and don’t forget to watch Lisa Fulmer and I craft our hearts out on Craft Wars tomorrow evening at 10 eastern 9 central 7 pacific! Lisa’s adorable fabric...
Gracie Dog’s Born Again Currie Birthday

Gracie Dog’s Born Again Currie Birthday

We call Easter Gracie’s born again Currie Birthday because it’s the day we brought our sweet black fuzz-bucket doggie home! Yeah… We’re those weird people…. Anyway, we adopted Gracie from Helen Woodward Animal Center 3 years ago and we couldn’t be more thankful for the joy, laughter and happiness she has brought to us! Here’s some of our favorite photos (and a video) of our silly girl. This is the first photo we ever snapped of our girl! She looks like she likes her new life already. Who doesn’t love a dog in a top hat and scarf? Turns out she’s a crafty dog! Sweet! She fits right in ;) Proof that she isn’t always so willing to pose for photos! She’s a very sporty girl! and a show off…. Above all she’ll pretty much do anything for a chip! And now for a cheesy Gracie Currie video. Happy birthday to our hilarious, surfing, grunting, snoring, sometimes smelly girl!  ...

So here we are in our November Roundup. Despite being busier than ever we managed to step back and enjoy a few Birthdays, Veterans day and a lovely Thanksgiving with our family. We even found time to go to the beach, buy neat antiques and whip up some great Christmas decor. He Made a Whale Birthday Balloon Card

He Made a Whale Birthday Balloon Card

I’m the kind of guy that really only likes to craft when it involves robotics, power tools or explosions. None of which seemed appropriate for card making until I crafted up this exploding Whale Balloon Card for my Nephew’s Birthday. Or in Andrea’s words “Whale Birthday Balloon Card because Exploding Whale sounds a bit gory for a kid’s Birthday……”  No matter what you call it there’s no denying that it’s a great no fuss alternative Birthday money card that also happens to involve a controlled and safe mini explosion. In my opinion it’s the perfect card for any rambunctious kid or adult that may enjoy the thrill of a freshly popped balloon. The inside message can be appropriately tailored for the recipient. For my nephew I plan to say “Hope it’s a whale of a tale of a good time! (Pop the balloon for your gift)” You can take this straight to the gutter for adults. Here’s just a few that play on the naughty side: “Blow me for cash” “Who ever thought that blowing a whale would make you richer?” “Blowing out candles gives you nothing but false hope that a wish might come true…. Blowing a whale, now that’s guaranteed cash in your pocket!” ——– Leave your messages ideas in the comments section please!——- and now I ask…..What boy wouldn’t love an exploding whale card handmade by his starving Artist/Crafter/DIYer/Maker Uncle? By the way if that fifty dollar bill has you thinking we’re the best Aunt and Uncle in town, you are sadly mistaken. That’s our food money this week which means I’ve gotta scrounge up a...
