4 DIY Thanksgiving Crafts

4 DIY Thanksgiving Crafts

Over the last 5 days Andrea has been whipping up some amazing DIY Thanksgiving crafts for some local news stations and boy has it been fun to watch! My favorite part of this DIY Thanksgiving craft-a-palooza is how she used The Paint Chip Pals to pick great color stories for each of her centerpieces! The Wine Country Centerpiece My crafty lady used empty wine bottles, corks, burlap and  OrAngie, Yallow and Gaareen for this wine country themed Thanksgiving table scape. She even threw in a sweet crafty tip on how to turn your wine bottles into votive candle holders with a jar lid! The Modern Succulent Centerpiece Succulents are are great addition to modern centerpieces. Keep it simple by using colors from Gaareen and OrAngie! Plus succulents give you a plethora of options for future holidays! And here’s one for the magazines ;) The Squash Mason Jar Centerpiece Squash and skinny orange tapers are a great alternative for your thanksgiving lighting needs. Add a simple floral arrangement with a mason jar wrapped in twine and filled with orange daisies. The Simple Glittery Centerpiece Instead of spending a fortune on flowers we recommend adding a touch of glitter and the vibrant color combo of OrAngie and Gaareen. It’s simple, sweet and best of all cheap! I’m kind of partial to the modern succulent centerpiece!  Which is your favorite? Get to know the Paint Chip Pals

Get to know the Paint Chip Pals

Meet The Paint Chip Pals Many of you know we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get the Paint Chip Pals Kickstarter campaign launched. As of this moment we have everything turned into Kickstarter and we’re just waiting (on pins and needles) for their thumbs up before we release it into the wild. I figured since we have some time (and tons of anxiety) I would let you all get to know the Paint Chip Pals a little better! Now just imagine how much happiness hugging a Paint Chip Pal Plush doll would bring you! It looks a lot like this :) For those newer to crowd funding I explain it as an exciting way to support independent designers, creatives and inventors while getting something neat in return! In our case we want to make a bunch of Paint Chip Pal plush dolls but we don’t have the money to fill a large minimum quantity order. By using Kickstarter we can raise the money needed to manufacture the Paint Chip Pals and send them to the people who backed the Kickstarter project! The fail safe is that nobody will be charged a cent if for some freakish reason we don’t reach our funding goal. If we do meet our funding goal (yippee) then you will be charged at the pledge level you chose and then  we send you all of the great things that you pledged for. On top of all that, our backers will also get to follow our journey and help shape where we go in the future! Make sure you are following the Paint Chip Pals on Facebook and Twitter for the...
Pegboard Paint Chip Craft Organizer

Pegboard Paint Chip Craft Organizer

Remember that Giant Lite Brite Paint Chip Christmas Tree that we made last year? Well, when we took it apart I just couldn’t wait for Christmas to roll around to enjoy it again so I transformed it into a Pegboard Paint Chip Craft Organizer! I believe this further proves that giant paint chips rock — especially when used in creative spaces. Those who aren’t familiar with the Giant Lite Brite Paint Chip check out this post here and don’t forget to meander on over to our paint chip crafts category! The rest of you may have already noticed that I simply removed a panel from my 4 color paint chip and flipped it horizontal to get it to fit on my craft desk. I also added some 2×1’s along the back and front (the white strips) to keep it sturdy. Here’s what she looks like without all of the crafty stuff all over it. I didn’t have any pegs or pegboard hangers laying around the house nor did I want to go to the store, so I did what any crafty girl would do and and improvised with photo frames, screws, tea tins, dollar store plastic containers, wire baskets, old paint brushes, gobs of hot glue and even some golf tees! It’s hard to see but I used a paint brush tip and handle to hold my Cropodile and Washi Tape! I put the pretty craft tools and materials on the pegboard in order to free up some cabinet and drawer space for my excessive amounts of less than pretty craft supplies. Am I close to ultimate craft room...
The Story of a Traveling Giant Paint Chip + Instructions!

The Story of a Traveling Giant Paint Chip + Instructions!

We are so excited that our Giant Paint Chip Valentine is being displayed in front of our local Home Depot for the thousands of DIY customers to enjoy! If you aren’t in the Encinitas area from Feb 11- Feb 14th don’t fret because you can make your very own giant paint chip by following our step by step instructions found here on Instructables.com. Check out what it took to get this 8 foot paint chip to The Home Depot! If only transporting this big foam paint chip to the store was as easy as creating it….. These are the days we wish we had a box truck! After some over engineering we managed to get the paint chip secured to the frame and then secured in the back of the truck. And then we prayed to the weather gods for no rain and no wind on our 3 mile trek. Phew, we made it but not without a few odd looks from passersby! After a nerve racking 15 minutes we finally got our paint chip into place right at The Home Depot entrance! Then, before we could clear all of our junk out of the way, our first little paint chip enthusiast jumped right in for a picture! Isn’t he adorable? He really really liked the paint chip! and finally a fun family pic in front of our red and pink paint chip of love! It’s great to see that we’re not the only ones delighted by the Giant Paint Chip Valentine! A BIG thank you goes out to our friends, family, Behr Paint and The Home Depot for...
A Giant Paint Chip Valentine

A Giant Paint Chip Valentine

Cliff always tells me that he feels so lucky that I never ask for roses, or diamonds or chocolate on Valentines day. This year that appreciation wore off pretty quickly when I told him I’d rather have something a bit more “extreme” like an 8 ft giant paint chip valentine! You think he would have learned by now, huh? Check out our Giant Paint Chip Valentine along with time lapse video and cheesy family photos! Luckily our friends at Behr helped my pink and red paint chip fantasies come to fruition by providing us just the right colors: Pink Eraser, Cheery, Firecracker and Poinsettia. Behr’s Firecracker red is so similar to the Pantone color of the year “Tangerine Tango” that it made me want to cover my studio walls in it! If you are newer to this blog and want to see our very first giant paint chip (with a Lite Brite twist) click here. The rest of you enjoy this sweet little time lapse video! By the looks of it I’m pretty sure we accomplished the cheesy photo shoot that we were so inspired to do…… Ok, Cliff in that pink shirt with the Glee Club smile/pose makes me pee a little! And now for the ultimate Valentines Day cheese!  And so the paint chip obsession continues…. What do you think of a giant paint chip Easter bunny?   ***** Update****** See our Giant Paint Chip Valentine in front of our local Home Depot here! and our featured Instructables.com Giant Paint Chip instructions here.
