4 DIY Thanksgiving Crafts

4 DIY Thanksgiving Crafts

Over the last 5 days Andrea has been whipping up some amazing DIY Thanksgiving crafts for some local news stations and boy has it been fun to watch! My favorite part of this DIY Thanksgiving craft-a-palooza is how she used The Paint Chip Pals to pick great color stories for each of her centerpieces! The Wine Country Centerpiece My crafty lady used empty wine bottles, corks, burlap and  OrAngie, Yallow and Gaareen for this wine country themed Thanksgiving table scape. She even threw in a sweet crafty tip on how to turn your wine bottles into votive candle holders with a jar lid! The Modern Succulent Centerpiece Succulents are are great addition to modern centerpieces. Keep it simple by using colors from Gaareen and OrAngie! Plus succulents give you a plethora of options for future holidays! And here’s one for the magazines ;) The Squash Mason Jar Centerpiece Squash and skinny orange tapers are a great alternative for your thanksgiving lighting needs. Add a simple floral arrangement with a mason jar wrapped in twine and filled with orange daisies. The Simple Glittery Centerpiece Instead of spending a fortune on flowers we recommend adding a touch of glitter and the vibrant color combo of OrAngie and Gaareen. It’s simple, sweet and best of all cheap! I’m kind of partial to the modern succulent centerpiece!  Which is your favorite? Most Memorable DIY and Craft Projects of 2011

Most Memorable DIY and Craft Projects of 2011

It seems like just yesterday we were steadily producing our once weekly internet show (Craft-Tastic LIVE) and then BLAM out of nowhere we’re buying a home, laying down laminate, setting up a dedicated craft studio and starting a new blog…. Just 6ish months later Hand MAKE My Day has already racked up 125 blog posts and over 100 unique DIY /craft projects! Don’t worry we’ve whittled it down to our top ten most memorable projects with plenty of visual candy for you ADD creative people (photos have links to corresponding blog posts). 1) The back breaker award. Floating stairs refinish! Cliff spent weeks tediously pulling out hundreds of carpet nails, sanding and sanding and more sanding, then staining. The hard work really paid off! Now we just need a bannister….. 2) The most unlikely popular craft. Paint chip address cards. WOW….. Who knew the entire internet would weigh in on the controversy of paint chip crafting and polarize me as the evil paint chip craft ring leader? 3) Project that made people go “Huh?” Our indoor swing. My mom is still asking what possessed us to hang a swing inside. Our answer; “Because it’s rad!” 4) Favorite craft. Giant Paint Chip Lite Brite Christmas Tree. There’s something about playing with giant Lite Brite that just makes Christmas better. 5) Best up-cycle. The stereo cabinet turned mini shoe closet. Maybe it’s because I scored the stereo cabinet for free and proved to Cliff that it would be put to good use. 6) Favorite creative technique. Ok, I’m patting myself on the back for figuring out how to make the perfect...

So here we are in our November Roundup. Despite being busier than ever we managed to step back and enjoy a few Birthdays, Veterans day and a lovely Thanksgiving with our family. We even found time to go to the beach, buy neat antiques and whip up some great Christmas decor. If you look closely at our roundup photos you might just see some of our top secret projects lurking in the background! Alternative Snowman a Sandy Holiday Tradition

Alternative Snowman a Sandy Holiday Tradition

For us Thanksgiving is all about gorging on gluten free stuffing as well as building our “Annual Currie Sand people.” All in all It’s a good ole time at our favorite beach in Cardiff. This year we really stepped it up a notch with a time-lapse video and fun photos of us trying to wrangle the dog. Ohh and yet another homage to paint chip crafts! Check out the video below if you are curious as to how we constructed these silly little sand people. I can’t tell if our sand people making skills have progressed throughout the years or if we’ve just gotten weirder with our accesories. You be the judge! and because I’m pretty proud of our 2011 Sand people let’s take a closer look! Great for holiday postcards huh? Craft...
How To – Gluten Free Stuffing Muffins For Thanksgiving

How To – Gluten Free Stuffing Muffins For Thanksgiving

Have you met OrAngie our resident Paint Chip Pal Chef? She is cooking away in full force this holiday season and she needs your support to get her Kickstarter campaign funded! So before you learn how to make some awesome-sauce gluten free stuffing we hope you’ll check out our Paint Chip Pal campaign to save the world from blah! A gluten free stuffing recipe probably sounds like something you’d begrudgingly learn how to bake for those “weird gluten free guests” that you accidentally invited to Thanksgiving dinner. Good new is that not everything gluten free is complicated or meant just for those “special” people in your life. In fact the gluten free stuffing muffin recipe below was devoured by all guests at our last Thanksgiving meal and that’s even when they had the choice of regular gluten filled stuffing! Maybe it’s the bacon laced cornbread? Yeah…..Probably. If animal products aren’t your thing then I suggest you head on over to Alicia Silverstone’s website and check out her vegan rice and cornbread stuffing. The rest of you animal eaters stay here because I have a great little gluten free cornbread stuffing muffin recipe that the glutinoids and non-glutinoids will enjoy. Ohh and I took loads of pictures! Stuffing in general (gluten or not) is as simple or complicated as you desire. Just choose your favorite bread, seasoning, vegetables, meat, fruit, broth and combine. I chose classic flavors combined with our favorite gluten free cornbread mix ( Bob’s Red Mill brand ). The only thing I didn’t use in the picture above is the butter. At the last minute I chose to cook...
