Cork Garland Craft With Safety Pins

Cork Garland Craft With Safety Pins

I love cork crafts and for years have been trying to talk myself into crafting up a cute cork garland. The problem is that cork garlands require drilling and this ADD crafter does not like the idea of being hunched over a drill press. So, naturally my need to keep things simple lead me to create an alternative cork garland using safety pins and fun embellishments. No drilling necessary! Ohh but wait there’s more! Not only is this a great handmade up-cycled holiday decoration but it also doubles as a holiday card holder! and as the years pass the garland will grow! Win win win!     P.S I’m so lucky to have friends with cute kids! P.P.S Now that I’ve depleted my cork stash I will be taking cork donations….. It’s an addiction–deal with it....
Advent Calendar Christmas Tree Decoration

Advent Calendar Christmas Tree Decoration

I squealed in delight when I saw the¬†Chevron Pattern Jewelry Box Advent Calendar that Cliff created. It has all of the glittery chevron dollar store goodness a crafty girl could want. So when the pressure was on to return the advent calendar favor I couldn’t think of anything better for Cliff than a Christmas Tree Decoration that lights up and holds little ornaments filled with gifts. Ohh and I used power tools which is ever important when making gifts for a master craftsman! I used a thin 4×2.5 piece of wood and drilled quarter inch holes for my LED battery operated lights and quarter inch pegs.¬† I love how it fills our house with holiday cheer both day and night! This Christmas decoration is perfect for our our small space because it stores flat. The photos only show 13 ornaments but don’t worry Cliffy isn’t getting cheated out of 24 days of Christmas gifts. I have more ornaments to hang from the lights and a few larger gifts to hide behind the tree. The battery operated LEDs I found are AMAZING! You can set them to pulse or change colors which is a fun option to have for future holidays. I think I might even make some smaller versions of this project to sprinkle throughout the house. Maybe even a snowflake or two! Craft...
She Crafted a Christmas Cheer Decoration

She Crafted a Christmas Cheer Decoration

Did I just blaze over Thanksgiving and go directly to Christmas crafts? Why yes, yes I did, but when you see this cute DIY holiday themed sign I think you’ll understand why. If this isn’t the most appropriate DIY themed Holiday decoration I just don’t know what is….. Best part is that it didn’t cost much to make because I used scrap wood, old paint brushes and sample paints from Home Depot (which I plan to use on larger scale Christmas projects). Clearly my inspiration came from my favorite Behr green paint chip! I think that these 4 Green Behr colors would work for traditional Christmas crafts and modern Holiday decor alike. The names are: Asparagus, Scotland Isle, Moss Landing and Mountain Forest. The easiest part was painting the scrap board and paintbrush handles. Then things got progressively complicated. I spent an hour fussing with foam and acrylic stamps trying to get the perfect layout with a variety of typefaces. Then another hour actually stamping them on! The foam stamps proved to be messier than I originally wanted but they were the biggest stamps I had laying around. Even with a sloppy line I think they fit the overall feel of the sign. See how “PAINT” is a little messy? I even tried putting some dots over a few letters. Whatever, it looks handmade. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. It’s hard to tell in the photos but I did glitter “Cheer” and it looks fantastic in person. Someday I’ll figure out how to photograph glitter. Until then use your creative brains to imagine how cute the...
