A Giant Paint Chip Valentine

A Giant Paint Chip Valentine

Cliff always tells me that he feels so lucky that I never ask for roses, or diamonds or chocolate on Valentines day. This year that appreciation wore off pretty quickly when I told him I’d rather have something a bit more “extreme” like an 8 ft giant paint chip valentine! You think he would have learned by now, huh? Check out our Giant Paint Chip Valentine along with time lapse video and cheesy family photos! Luckily our friends at Behr helped my pink and red paint chip fantasies come to fruition by providing us just the right colors: Pink Eraser, Cheery, Firecracker and Poinsettia. Behr’s Firecracker red is so similar to the Pantone color of the year “Tangerine Tango” that it made me want to cover my studio walls in it! If you are newer to this blog and want to see our very first giant paint chip (with a Lite Brite twist) click here. The rest of you enjoy this sweet little time lapse video! By the looks of it I’m pretty sure we accomplished the cheesy photo shoot that we were so inspired to do…… Ok, Cliff in that pink shirt with the Glee Club smile/pose makes me pee a little! And now for the ultimate Valentines Day cheese!  And so the paint chip obsession continues…. Bedroom Paint and One Crazy Week At CHA

Bedroom Paint and One Crazy Week At CHA

I realize that it shouldn’t take 2 adults a whole week to paint a bedroom but we had places to go, people to see and really high walls to paint! Ohh and we changed our minds a few times too. In the end project eradicate bedroom beige was a success and we even managed to have some crafty fun at the CHA trade show! Skip to the bottom if you want to go straight to the bedroom paint pics or scroll slowly to see what life was like for us crazy Curries this week! Saturday: Hey let’s paint! Sunday: Let’s go to CHA (in Anaheim) a day early. Monday: Let’s craft! Tuesday: Let’s force our friends to pick their favorite valentine. Wednesday: Ok back to painting but this time we need a tall ladder. Thursday: Touch up time.  Friday: Somebody get us a drink! If you are familiar with our CHA Folklore post you’ll recall that we turned to all of you to solve our paint dilemma and luckily you rose to the occasion by choosing an awesome deep color purple color called Folklore (By Behr) for our accent wall. Here’s the Behr ColorSmart photo you all picked. We were totally happy with this color combo until at the last minute we decided to change the entire furniture arrangement, which forced us to change the location of our Behr Folklore accent wall to our smallest wall along the window. Doing so actually squared out our awkwardly rectangular room. For the rest of the walls we chose a nice yellowish Behr color called Caribbean Sunrise instead of the Behr Oyster...
A Color Dilemma – Help Us Choose!

A Color Dilemma – Help Us Choose!

We’re quickly trying to wrap up our bedroom remodel and need to get color on the walls ASAP but somehow we still can’t agree on a color… I blame it on the fact that neither one of us have a decent way to illustrate our paint visions properly. I mean if Cliff could visit my creative brain for a moment I think he’d agree that we should go with a jewel tone purple or maybe even jewel tone green. Whatever, the fact is that I thought we were up a beige creek without a paddle until out of nowhere I discovered the Behr ColorSmart application! Hello, why have I never seen this before? Ohh yeah– that’s right, I have my head buried in glitter all day… Anyway, here’s the photo I uploaded to the Behr ColorSmart tool. It’s the best pic I could get that encapsulates our current state of beige and vaulted ceiling. After that, it was just as easy as virtually painting the walls with our favorite Behr colors. In fact it’s so easy to test colors that we’re even more confused than before and need your help! Check out our options below and tell us which ones you like and the most popular color wins its’ way onto our walls. BTW don’t mind my poor virtual painting job. It’s my fault for getting so excited ;)  Regal Red with Oyster WB    Fond Memory with Oyster WB Herbal with Oyster WB Folklore with Oyster WB Deep Blue Sea with Oyster WB Sugar Plum Oyster WB Over time I’ve learned that you all get a little queasy...
He Made Faux Porcelain Ornaments ( sans spray paint )

He Made Faux Porcelain Ornaments ( sans spray paint )

Andrea really wanted me to make her some of those trendy faux porcelain ornaments that you’ve probably seen floating around the blogosphere. All of the tutorials I’ve read call for spray paint or spray primer which unfortunately we do not have the space for….. I couldn’t let my crafty girl down so I came up with an alternative solution that we could complete in our tiny condo space without the fumes or mess of spray paint. They turned out quite nice if I do say so myself. All you need is some leftover white house paint, small eyelet screws, string and some plastic animals. I used some leftover Behr Eggshell paint and some Target dollar bin farm animals (Small enough to shimmy into a paint can). The trick to this project is having proper hanging racks, a mixing/drowning stick and about a half gallon of paint left in a gallon paint can (enough to dunk your toys). I used Andrea’s ornament hangers and a craft dowel to drown my animals in the paint (illustrated in the photos below). Andrea started screaming “Artax, Artax, Artax noooo!” I gave her a strange look and continued to drown my horse in the paint…… Then she was like “Neverending Story DUH!” and so Artax comes out white, which was his color in the movie before drowning in the swamp of sadness…. If you aren’t getting our Neverending story reference then click on this link to the Youtube clip but be warned it makes grown women cry….. If you weren’t paying attention then here are the basics: 1) Drown your animals in paint (...
